Employee Mental Health First Aid Training
Mental health is increasingly becoming an important part of workplace culture. With the current global pandemic, many companies are recognizing the need to prioritize employee mental health and employee wellbeing.
The Impact of Employee Mental Health in the Workplace
Good mental health is essential for employees to function optimally in the workplace. When employees feel mentally healthy, they are more engaged and productive at work and more connected to their team. Poor mental health, on the other hand, can lead to increased absences from work, decreased productivity and a higher risk of burnout or turnover.
Employee wellbeing doesn’t just cover physical wellbeing. Emotional issues not taken care of can turn into physical issues like headaches, back pain and fatigue, and all of these will affect an employee’s ability to work effectively.
When it comes to employee mental health, employers must see the signs so they can address any issues before it becomes a bigger problem. Signs may include increased frustration, lack of motivation, declining job performance, or shying away from social activities with colleagues.
Employee Mental Health First Aid
Our Employee Mental Health First Aid Certification Training teaches you the skills and confidence to help anyone who may be suffering from a mental health challenge or substance use problem. You will learn how to connect them to the help they need. It’s also an effective strategy for removing stigma barriers that may be preventing employees from receiving professional support.
This is a 6-hour training with 2 hours of pre-work specifically designed for managers and/or people leaders. In our training, Exude will cover:
- Evaluating the impact of early intervention on mental health challenges.
- Understanding the impact that stigma has on recovery and how to use “person first language” which focuses on the person vs. Illness.
- Applying the appropriate steps of the first aid action plan (ALGEE) to a scenario
- Choosing appropriate methods for self-care following the application of Employee Mental Health First Aid.
